What to expect
Montserrat at 9 AM: the mountain before the crowds
The first stop is a viewpoint above Montserrat, where the morning often arrives with mist still wrapped around the peaks. By the time you reach the basilica, most of the large trou groups haven’t arrived yet. You'll walk into a near-empty church, and your guide will point out the gilt altarpiece and the Black Madonna seated above it. Afterwards, you’ll have free time to explore Montserrat and the surrounding views on your own.
Joan and Georgina's bodega: the cellars and vineyard
The second stop is a small family-run winery in the Penedès, the region that produces more than ninety percent of Spain's cava. Georgina walks you through the cellars where everything started, with photographs of the family on the walls and a glass of their cava in your hand. Then, you climb into a working jeep with Joan, the owner, and ride out through the vines.
"My favorite moment is when we open the door of the basilica at nine and it's empty. People go quiet without being told."
Feliciano,

"This is two-day trip folded into one. People book it for Montserrat. They tell us afterward the winery was the part they'll remember."
