What to expect

San Polo at aperitivo hour: when the bacari come alive

Your evening begins in Campo San Tomà, where your guide meets you and brings you to your first stop. This bacaro is where Venetians come for their after-work spritz and bread cicchetti, and you'll try both. By the time you leave, you'll have the rhythm down: order at the counter, eat standing up, move on. The second stop takes you to another neighborhood bar for cold cuts and local cheese with a glass of crisp prosecco.

Fried cicchetti and prosecco: right on the canal

The third stop is a bacaro right on the water, where fried cicchetti are the specialty. You'll bite into warm mozzarella in carrozza, bread stuffed with melting cheese, and polpette, dense little meatballs served straight from the fryer. Your guide teaches you how to cheers in Italian as you glass raise your glass canalside.
