What to expect
Murano and its glass
You'll board a private boat in central Venice and slip out across the lagoon, passing St. Mark's Square, the Doge's Palace, and the Bridge of Sighs from the water. On Murano, an island making glass since the 13th century, you'll watch a private glassblowing demonstration and hear how the craft became Venice's own. There's free time after to explore the island.
Burano's painted streets
Next is Burano, famous for its rows of brightly colored houses and its lacemakers going back to the 16th century. Your guide walks you through the streets, past the old fish market and the leaning church, telling the island's story. Then you're free to visit a lace shop or wander on your own.
"Burano stops everyone in their tracks. The houses are every color you can imagine, and people just start grinning and reaching for their cameras. It's pure joy."

"The Sant'Erasmo wine surprises people most. Vines growing in salt air, on an island most visitors never reach, making wine the Doges drank. You can taste the lagoon in it."
