What to expect
Day 1, Florence: meeting the David
You'll take the high-speed train from Rome, arriving around 9am to a guide who sends your luggage ahead to the hotel. A walking tour through the historic center unpacks centuries of Florentine history underfoot, and finishes inside the Accademia with skip-the-line entry to Michelangelo's David. It's the right introduction to the city before lunch.
Day 1, Sant'Ambrogio: the market table
Next is Sant'Ambrogio, Florence's oldest neighborhood market and the one locals shop. Your guide threads you through the stalls for a lunch built from them: crostini with white wine, cheeses and cured meats and ribollita with red, a pour from a wine window, and cantucci with small-batch gelato to finish. After, you've got free time to explore the city on your own.
"Most people try to do Florence in a frantic day trip. We built this so you get the David, the Duomo after dark, and a Chianti lunch, without ever watching the clock."
Valeria,
WalksDevour tour designer
"The Duomo after hours is the moment. The crowds are gone, the lights are still on, and you climb the dome with the city quiet below. People go silent up there."
Federica,
WalksDevour Florence guide
