- •Hear the real stories of the gladiators, the staged animal hunts, and the engineered naval battle that flooded the arena floor
- •Descend into the Roman Forum and stand at the site of Julius Caesar's funeral pyre, beneath the Arch of Titus, and along the Via Sacra where triumphal processions once marched
- •Climb Palatine Hill, where legend says Romulus and Remus were found and where Rome itself began, with views that stretch across the modern city

What to expect
The Colosseum: two thousand years underfoot
The stairs are the first thing you notice. They're steep, worn smooth by centuries of footsteps, tilted slightly from the weight of everyone who has climbed them before you. Then you reach the top and the arena opens up: tier upon tier of stone, the exposed corridors below where animals and fighters once waited, and a building designed to hold 50,000 spectators. Your guide fills in what the stone can't tell you on its own: why it was built, who fought here, who died here, and the surprisingly sophisticated engineering that made the bloodshed run on schedule.
The Roman Forum: where the empire was run
From the Colosseum you descend into the Forum, the political and commercial heart of ancient Rome. It's vast, and without a guide it can look like a field of rubble. With one, it becomes a city again. Your guide walks you along the Via Sacra, the road every triumphal procession followed, and stops at the Arch of Titus. You’ll see the Temple of Julius Caesar where his funeral pyre burned, and the Senate house where Rome's future was argued over, voted on, and more than once, decided with a knife.
"People come expecting a ruin. Then they climb those worn stairs and realize they're walking on something that's still alive."
Emilio,

"Everyone thinks the Forum is just stones. But once you know where Caesar's pyre burned, you can't unsee the city underneath."
