Why do I need to provide the name of every guest to book this tour?

Accepted Answer

The full names of all participants must be provided at the time of booking and match the names on their ID. The Colosseum requires all guests (including children) to present government ID at the time of entry. Therefore any guest that does not submit their name in advance of the tour, or who does not bring their ID to the meeting point, will be refused participation without refund.

Can I change a name after booking?

Name corrections are possible up to 7 days before the visit. After this, changes may not be possible.

What happens if my name doesn’t match my ID?

Accepted Answer

It's very important that you provide your full name exactly as it matches your ID at time of booking. If the name on your ticket does not match your ID, security may deny entry and sadly there's nothing we can do. Refunds will not be provided.

Is this tour accessible for guests with mobility needs?

The Roman Forum and Palatine Hill involve uneven terrain, steps, and inclines. The Super Sites include indoor spaces that may have steps. In order to visit the upper levels, the Colosseum  requires climbing steep stairs. If you have specific concerns, reach out to our Guest Experience team before booking.

What’s the cancellation policy for this tour?

This tour is fully refundable up to 7 days prior to the event. Within 4 days, this tour is 100% non-refundable.

What are the Super Sites in the Roman Forum?

Accepted Answer

The Super Sites are a group of restricted-access areas within the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill that require a special ticket. They include sites like the House of Augustus, Santa Maria Antiqua, and the Domus Tiberiana. Which Super Sites are open on the day of your tour depends on availability and scheduling by the archaeological park. Your guide will take you to the sites that are accessible, and the House of Augustus is the most frequently visited.

What is the House of Augustus and why is it worth visiting?

It was Augustus's private residence on Palatine Hill. Unlike most of the Roman Forum, which is open-air ruins, this is an interior space with remarkably well-preserved frescoes in vivid reds, blues, and yellows. Only a limited number of visitors are allowed inside each day, and it is one of the few places in Rome where you can see original Roman wall paintings in the setting they were created for.

How is this Rome Forum tour different from a standard Colosseum tour?

A standard Colosseum tour covers the Colosseum and a walk through the Roman Forum. This tour adds access to the Super Sites, the restricted areas of the Forum and Palatine Hill that most visitors never see. It's 3.5 hours instead of the standard 2–3, and the guide spends significantly more time in the Forum and on Palatine Hill before heading to the Colosseum. Can you visit the Super Sites without a guide?

You can, but you'd need to purchase a specific Super Sites ticket separately and navigate the sites on your own. Without a guide, the frescoes and ruins are visually impressive but hard to place in context. The guide connects what you're seeing to the broader story of Roman power, which is what transforms the visit from sightseeing into understanding.

What do we see inside the Colosseum on this tour?

Is this Colosseum and Roman Forum tour suitable for children?

Accepted Answer

Children are welcome and those under 2 join free. The Colosseum tends to be the highlight for younger visitors, especially the stories about the games and animals. The tour is 3.5 hours with steady walking over uneven ground, so factor in your child's stamina.

How long does this Rome Super Sites tour take?

Accepted Answer

Three and a half hours. This is longer than our standard Colosseum tour because of the additional time spent in the Super Sites and on Palatine Hill.

What should I wear and bring?

Accepted Answer

Comfortable shoes are essential. The Roman Forum and Palatine Hill involve walking on uneven, ancient stone surfaces with some inclines. Bring water, sun protection in summer, and a layer for cooler months. There is limited shade in the Forum. You also must bring a valid ID that matches the name on your Colosseum ticket, which you provided at time of booking.

Does the route ever change?

The order of the tour depends on ticket timing and site availability on the day. Most tours begin in the Roman Forum and end at the Colosseum, but your guide may adjust the sequence. The Super Sites visited may also vary depending on which areas are open. Regardless of the route, you'll see the Forum, Palatine Hill, one of the Super Sites, and the Colosseum.
