What to expect
From the Spanish Steps to Trevi: Rome at a quarter past seven
Meet your guide in Piazza di Spagna, where the Spanish Steps climb toward the church of Trinità dei Monti and the boat-shaped Barcaccia fountain sits in the square. A short briefing sets up the route, then stroll to the Trevi Fountain, arriving before the crowds build. Look for the two sea horses pulling the sea god's shell-shaped chariot, one calm and one restless, said to stand for the sea's two moods.
Piazza di Pietra: a Roman temple built into a later facade
A short walk from Trevi, Piazza di Pietra is a quieter square with eleven columns from the Temple of Hadrian built into the front of a later building. The columns are nearly 1,900 years old, and Rome built around them instead of clearing them away.
“Rome smells like coffee and warm pastries before nine. I like guests to be standing in the middle of that, not in a queue.”
Ambra,

“While much of Rome is still asleep, we’re at Trevi, then the Pantheon. Cooler air, softer light, and time to take it all in.”
