Overview
Every day, thousands of visitors flood the Vatican Museums. Before that happens, before the queues form and the corridors fill, the doors open for just our small group to follow the Key Master through the galleries as he unlocks them one by one.
The Vatican has extended this access to only a handful of tour operators worldwide. We are one of them.
- •Follow the Vatican Key Master through empty galleries as he unlocks the museums for the day, room by room, in silence
- •Open the heavy wooden doors of the Sistine Chapel and step inside before any other visitor
- •Stand beneath Michelangelo's ceiling with an official Vatican guide who can explain every detail, commentary that is only possible during early access
- •See the gilded ceiling in the Gallery of Maps illuminate as the lights come on and its long corridor unfolds ahead of you

What to expect
Before dawn: the Vatican at its most still
The city is quiet. The Vatican is quieter still. You arrive before official opening hours to find corridors that will soon hold thousands of visitors completely empty, just the sharp echo of footsteps on marble and the cool stillness of the early morning air. From the first terrace, the dome of St. Peter's Basilica emerges against the dawn sky.
The opening ritual: waking the museums
The Key Master moves through the galleries on his morning rounds, unlocking heavy doors, opening windows, switching on the lights, and your small group moves with him. As each room illuminates, frescoes and sculptures emerge from darkness into warm, radiant light. Your guide brings each one to life: the Laocoön's frozen agony and the serene authority of the Apollo Belvedere. Completely empty in the early morning, these are spaces that will be unrecognizable in an hour's time.
"Every time the lights come on in the Sistine Chapel, I see the same awe on people's faces. It never gets old."
Valentina,

"People ask if it's worth getting up at five. By the Sistine Chapel, nobody's asking."
Marco,
