Overview
Everyone sees Niagara from the railing; almost no one sees what's underneath it. This Niagara Falls power plant tour follows the water down, from a birds-eye view atop the Skylon Tower to a 115-year-old power station and a tunnel that ends at a view of the Falls you can't get anywhere else. Along the way is the story of how Tesla's current here lit up New York.
- •Take in the Falls from the Skylon Tower's Skydeck with pre-reserved entry
- •Meet the daredevils who went over the Falls, and see the real barrels they used
- •Hear the Tesla-versus-Edison current war that Niagara decided
- •Get hands-on with the original machinery inside a 115-year-old power station
- •Descend 180 feet by glass elevator and walk the tunnel to a one-of-a-kind Falls view

What to expect
The Skylon Tower: the whole story from above
You'll start with pre-reserved entry to the Skylon Tower, where the Skydeck opens onto the Falls and the Niagara River Gorge. From up here your guide points out the pieces of the story to come, the power station, the control dam, the path the diverted water takes as it drops 180 feet. It's the map before the journey down.
Daredevils and the current war
Back at ground level, the Daredevil Exhibit introduces the people who went over the Falls in barrels, and you'll see the real barrels they used. Then, at the Nikola Tesla statue, your guide lays out the Current War, Tesla against Edison, AC against DC, and how Niagara settled it. You'll pass the Illumination Tower that lights the Falls each night on the way.
"Everyone knows the view from the top. Almost no one knows that the reason your phone charges traces back to this exact spot, to what Tesla built here."

"The tunnel is the payoff. You walk the path the water took for a hundred years, and it opens onto the Falls from below. People aren't ready for it."
