What does a Houses of Parliament tour include?

Do I need to buy Houses of Parliament tickets separately?

No. Your Houses of Parliament tickets and Westminster Abbey tickets are both included in the tour price. We take care of all the bookings so you can just show up.

Is this a guided tour of the Houses of Parliament or an audio guide?

Most Houses of Parliament tours use an audio guide, but this is one of the few that are led by a live Blue Badge guide. You’ll enjoy live commentary and be able to ask all your questions. Your Westminster Abbey visit is always fully guided.

How long is the tour, and how much walking is involved?

The tour runs approximately 3 hours and 45 minutes. You'll be on your feet for most of it, though the pace is steady and there are moments to pause inside both buildings. Wear shoes you feel comfortable in.

Can I take pictures inside Parliament and Westminster Abbey?

Photography rules vary. Westminster Abbey allows photos in most areas, but no flash. Inside the Houses of Parliament, photography is generally permitted in Westminster Hall but restricted in the chambers. Your guide will let you know as you go.

You can, but security checks are thorough at both venues. Small bags and backpacks are fine. Avoid bringing large suitcases or oversized bags, as there are no storage facilities.

Is this Houses of Parliament tour suitable for children?

It's a great tour for curious older children with an interest in history. The pace and length may be a lot for very young kids, so we'd suggest it for ages six and up.

Is this tour accessible for guests with mobility concerns?

Westminster Abbey: where kings are crowned and poets rest

Your tour begins inside one of England's most storied churches. With skip-the-line access, you'll walk straight into the soaring Gothic nave, where every stone slab, stained-glass panel and carved tomb witnessed a coronation, a royal wedding, or a burial. You'll see the Coronation Chair that has seated monarchs since 1308, stand at the graves of Darwin and Newton, and find the quiet rivalries buried in Poets' Corner.

Westminster Hall: the oldest part of Parliament

Next, you'll cross Parliament Square to the oldest surviving part of the Houses of Parliament. Westminster Hall has hosted trials, lying-in-state ceremonies and political crises since 1097. The oak hammerbeam roof overhead spans 20 meters without a single supporting column. Your guide will take you from the trial of Guy Fawkes to the days when the Thames rose high enough to flood the chamber floor.
