What to expect

Trocadéro Gardens & the Eiffel Tower: the view worth crossing a bridge for

From the Trocadéro Gardens, walk toward the Seine and cross the Pont d'Iéna, where the Eiffel Tower rises directly ahead, framed by the river below. Your guide shares the story of the 1889 Universal Exposition that built it, along with the years it spent nearly being torn down. You'll stop at a few of the best photo angles before moving on.

Île de la Cité: where medieval Paris still stands

From there, the Metro carries you across the city to Île de la Cité, the small island at the heart of medieval Paris. Your guide walks you past the exterior of Notre-Dame, the Gothic facade of Sainte-Chapelle, and La Conciergerie, once a royal palace and later a Revolutionary prison. The walk continues through the winding lanes of the Latin Quarter, where the kings and revolutionaries your guide just described feel a little closer to the ground you're standing on.
